| Three Plus recognised at the national PRIA Awards |
27 October 2009
Three Plus has been recognised by its industry peers for outstanding performance in communications at the Public Relations Institute of Australia's (PRIA) National Golden Target Awards. The consultancy received a Highly Commended Award in the Environmental category at the gala event on Monday 26 October 2009.
The industry acknowledgement celebrates the achievement of Three Plus and its client, Cool nrg, for the successful Queensland-wide social marketing campaign 'The Big Light Switch'.
The campaign sought to encourage Queenslanders to switch to energy-saving CFL light bulbs for their superior environmental performance – using creative tactics to reinforce the need for permanent behavioural change.
The award follows Three Plus' win at the state level where the campaign team took out the major award in the Environmental category.
Executive Director Paul Bird said the achievement reinforces Three Plus' specialist skill in environmental projects.
"Our team has a longstanding passion for contributing to our community – both personally and professionally," Mr Bird said.
"We're delighted to receive this recognition from the PRIA on the back of our 2008 success for our team’s work on WWF-Australia's Earth Hour."
'The Big Light Switch' raised awareness and effected positive behavioural change in lowering household CO2 emissions by distributing 1 million energy efficient light bulbs throughout Queensland in just two weeks.
This equates to a reduction in green house gas emissions of 72,000 tonnes a year which is equivalent to taking 16,823 cars off the road over that time.
